1769-IQ16K functions and interfaces

1769-IQ16K is a conformally coated, sixteen-point digital input module for compatible 1769 I/O assemblies. The field inputs are divided into two eight-point groups with separate DC commons. Selection must account for the field-device current direction, temperature-dependent voltage limits, the I/O bus power budget and the installed module position. This is an input interface, not a field-load output module.

Discrete-state acquisitionAcquire sixteen DC input states for the configured control application; retain the input-point allocation and field labels during replacement.

Field-device polarity matchingWire each group common for the required sinking or sourcing circuit arrangement; check current direction between the field device and input circuit.

Grouped common arrangementInputs 0-7 and inputs 8-15 form separate groups. Keep each group return correctly identified instead of treating all terminals as one common circuit.

Installation environment

Install 1769-IQ16K as part of the correctly powered, grounded and mechanically secured I/O assembly; keep the field and bus circuits identified.

Remove power before module replacement, identify the bus and field supplies, and keep the bus connection and end-of-bank termination secure.
Use the specified DIN-rail or panel mounting arrangement. Provide a suitable enclosure because the module itself has no enclosure type rating.
Keep the operating ambient within 0-60 C and humidity within 5-95% noncondensing; apply the input-voltage limit appropriate to the actual temperature.
Use Cu-90 C conductors: 22-14 AWG solid or 22-16 AWG stranded. Distinguish 0.68 N m terminal-screw torque from 0.46 N m retaining-screw torque.
