Product Description
RSD-GW3-Ex2.DPE is a PROFIBUS DP-V1 gateway module used in Pepperl+Fuchs remote I/O systems. It works as an interface between the external PROFIBUS DP-V1 network and the internal backplane bus, allowing data exchange between the control system and connected I/O modules. The gateway supports up to 8 I/O modules through the internal backplane bus and provides HART communication between PROFIBUS DP-V1 and connected HART field devices. It supports PROFIBUS communication speeds from 9.6 to 1500 kBit/s, with a cycle time of 1.6 ms on the internal bus. Configuration and parameter settings can be handled through PACTware™ or PROFIBUS DP-V1. The module supports media-redundant PROFIBUS DP operation, DIN rail mounting, and hazardous area applications with EEx ib IIC protection. It operates with a power consumption of 8.5 W and supports ambient temperatures from -20 °C to 70 °C, making it suitable for industrial process automation and remote I/O applications.
Function
The RSD-GW3-Ex2.DPE gateway is the interface between the external PROFIBUS DP-V1 and the internal bus. It converts the protocol of the internal bus to PROFIBUS DP protocol and vice versa. Up to 8 I/O modules can be connected to a gateway via the internal backplane bus. Communication with the I/O modules is performed via the address and data lines of the backplane bus. Configuration and parameter assignment of the system can be performed by PACTwareTM. HART telegrams are received over the PROFIBUS DP-V1 by the gateway and are forwarded on to the HART field devices connected to the I/O modules. HART communication can also be performed with PACTwareTM. The gateway interface with the PROFIBUS DP is designed for media-redundant operation. The internal and external buses are galvanically isolated from the power supply.
