This 21000 series housing is an all‑metal enclosure with an aluminum body and a 304 stainless steel sleeve. The assembly includes a dome cover that screws into the housing body, threaded ports for conduit connections, a probe sleeve of specified length, O‑rings, a reverse‑mount proximity probe, a thread seal, and optional conduit fittings. It weighs approximately 1.1 kg (2.4 lb) without fittings. The housing is supplied with a 3300 XL 8 mm probe with selectable hazardous area approvals (Option A=28), a 0.5‑meter (20‑inch) probe cable (Option B=05), and a 1.5‑inch standoff adapter (Option C=15).
Interfaces
The housing features a 1.2‑inch probe penetration sleeve (Option D=012), making it suitable for shallow casing penetrations or tight internal clearances. The fitting configuration (Option E=04) provides one 3/4‑14 NPT plug only, sealing the conduit entry. The mounting thread (Option F=02) is 3/4‑14 NPT, ensuring broad compatibility with standard machine ports. External access through the housing allows gap adjustment and probe replacement without machine disassembly.
Safety Features
This housing is CSA certified as explosion‑proof for hazardous areas, rated for Class I, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups C and D, as well as Class II, Divisions 1 and 2, Groups E, F, and G. It is a CSA Type 4 enclosure and fully complies with the API 670 Standard for externally mounted proximity probe housings. When installed with appropriate intrinsically safe barriers, the housing supports intrinsically safe (I.S.) applications in explosive atmospheres. Penetration lengths between 1.0 and 2.0 inches may require counter‑boring the machine case to reduce side‑view or rear‑view effects, and sleeve lengths exceeding 12 inches would require additional support; however, this 1.2‑inch configuration remains well below that threshold.
