Can 6ES7231-5PF32-0XB0 accept a 4–20 mA temperature transmitter?No. Its measurement inputs are for resistance thermometers and resistance; a current-transmitter signal requires an appropriate current input interface.
Which lead arrangements are supported for an RTD sensor?Two-, three- and four-wire connections are supported. Connect the actual sensor arrangement to its corresponding terminal circuit.
How are temperature readings represented in the control program?In a normal temperature range, the reported integer is ten times the temperature; a climatic range uses a factor of one hundred. Apply the scaling for the selected range.
Is every platinum sensor interchangeable on these inputs?No. Select the characteristic and nominal resistance that match the installed sensor; the Pt100 and Pt1000 selections, for example, are not equivalent.
What changes when a channel is configured as a resistor input?The input reports a scaled resistance value rather than a temperature conversion. The nominal full-scale data value is 27648.
What is the maximum sensor-cable distance?The specified maximum is 100 m to the sensor. Lead resistance must also meet the selected sensor limits; distance alone does not establish suitability.
Does the module provide channel-to-channel isolation?No. The inputs are not isolated from one another, so the field wiring must respect the common measurement arrangement.
Can a disabled wire-break alarm conceal an open RTD lead?Yes. With the alarm disabled, an open sensor circuit can produce random reported values. Include a controlled open-lead test when validating diagnostics.
Should ±35 V be used as a normal measurement range?No. That value is a withstand limit, not an RTD measurement range or an operating target. Do not apply a voltage signal to an RTD circuit.
Which checks should follow a replacement before temperature control resumes?Verify sensor type, wiring mode, range, unit scaling and diagnostic status, then compare the affected channels against a known reference before restoring control.
