Capable of delivering over two million pps, the Fast Ethernet Workgroup Switch 2H258-17R is the ideal solution for high-powered Fast Ethernet-over-fiber 100Base-FX switching, whether in network aggregation
points or fiber-to-the-desktop environments. The 2H258-17R offers unmatched capacity with 16 100BaseFX ports as well as a flexible slot for uplink connectivity to high-speed backbones such as Gigabit Ethernet or
ATM. Built-in features such as redundant internal power supplies for premium fault tolerance and embedded
RMON for accounting level network traffic statistics make the switch well suited for any mission-critical
enterprise application.
The 2H258-17R also supports the MTRJ fiber connector type. Designed to make fiber optics simpler and
more affordable to deploy throughout the enterprise, the MTRJ system dramatically increases the ability to
extend fiber to the desktop. Fiber is commonly deployed in the enterprise LAN backbone, and many customers including those in the government, education and manufacturing industries also use fiber at the
desktop level, improving the ability to deliver multimedia and other high-bandwidth traffic to networked
