Construction
This model is a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with a 3/8‑24 UNF thread and no armor. The probe tip is molded from polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) using the patented TipLoc® process, ensuring a durable bond between the tip and body. The 75Ω triaxial cable is FEP‑insulated and incorporates CableLoc® technology, providing 330 N (75 lbf) pull strength. The unthreaded length is 0.4 inches (option 04), and the overall case length is 3.0 inches (option 30), offering a compact form factor for space‑constrained installations. The total system length is 0.5 meters (option 05), ideal for applications requiring minimal cable runs. The probe case is constructed from AISI 303 or 304 stainless steel, ensuring corrosion resistance in harsh industrial environments.
Interfaces
The probe terminates in a miniature coaxial ClickLoc® connector with a connector protector (option 01), providing enhanced environmental sealing at the probe‑to‑extension cable junction. The gold‑plated ClickLoc connector ensures corrosion‑resistant, finger‑tight connections that audibly "click" when properly secured, eliminating the need for special tools. The 0.5‑meter cable length suits installations where the Proximitor® Sensor is mounted in close proximity to the probe.
Safety Features
This probe carries CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals (option 05) for hazardous area installation. A Viton® O‑ring seals differential pressure between the probe tip and case. The system is fully compliant with the API 670 Standard for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy, and temperature stability. The 8 mm probe body provides thicker PPS encapsulation of the sensing coil compared to 5 mm variants, offering enhanced ruggedness against physical abuse. When installed with appropriate intrinsically safe barriers, the system is suitable for intrinsically safe (I.S.) applications in explosive atmospheres.
