Theory of Operation
This non-explosion-proof PPS housing is supplied without a probe or cable, offering maximum flexibility for field-installed 3300 XL 8 mm, NSv, or 11 mm transducers. It combines a 1.5‑in standoff adapter with a 3.9‑in penetration sleeve, yielding 5.4‑in total insertion – optimal for medium‑thickness casings where the sensing tip must clear the mounting boss. The 3/4‑14 NPT thread secures the outer sleeve, while a single conduit fitting allows one cable entry. Glass‑reinforced PPS with conductive fibers delivers Type 4X and IP66 environmental protection against water and corrosion, though it is not rated for explosive atmospheres. Neoprene and Viton® O‑rings seal all interfaces. Field users can gap the probe externally without machine disassembly. The 5.4‑in depth remains under the 12‑in resonance threshold, eliminating extra sleeve supports. API 670 compliant. Retaining nut torque: 29.4 N·m; impact rated 7 J (ambient) and 4 J at extreme temperatures.
