Theory of Operation
This PPS housing assembly (no probe/cable included) features a 1.5‑in standoff and a 3.5‑in penetration sleeve, providing 5.0‑in total insertion – a shallower profile suited for thinner casings or applications where internal clearance is constrained. The reduced extension minimizes potential side‑view interference from adjacent metal structures compared to deeper probes. Like all 31000 enclosures, it uses 3/4‑14 NPT mounting and a single conduit entry, with Type 4X/IP66 sealing against moisture and dust. The glass‑reinforced PPS body with conductive fibers ensures electrostatic dissipation per CENELEC standards. Users must supply and gap a compatible probe during installation. The 5.0‑in C+D value stays below the 12‑in resonance limit, so additional bracing is unnecessary. It meets API 670 requirements for externally mounted housings and supports radial vibration or Keyphasor® measurements when the casing is rigidly affixed to the bearing.
