Application Limitation
Environmental Protection
The housing has the following official protection ratings:
Type 4X
IP66
The Type 4X rating is certified by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), while the IP66 rating is verified according to the documentation referenced by Bently Nevada.
The PPS housing provides excellent corrosion resistance and is designed to provide mechanical and environmental protection for the proximity probe installation.
The housing is certified to seal against hose-directed water according to NEMA 4X and IP66 standards.
However, Bently Nevada explicitly states that the plastic housing is not designed to resist internal or external pressure.
Installation Considerations
The selected configuration contains:80 mm standoff adapterplus
80 mm probe penetration This gives a C + D dimensional value of:160 mm Bently Nevada specifies that C + D dimensions greater than 305 mm (12 in) require additional sleeve support near the probe to prevent resonance. Therefore, the specified 160 mm C + D configuration is below the official 305 mm threshold for this particular sleeve-support requirement. The official datasheet also states that probe penetration lengths between 25 and 50 mm may require counterboring of the machine case to reduce probe side-view or rear-view effects. The 080 configuration specifies an 80 mm probe penetration and therefore lies outside that particular 25–50 mm range.
