All-in-One Architecture
PROXPAC XL differs from a conventional separate proximity system because the housing cover contains its own 3300 XL Proximitor Sensor.
The architecture becomes:
Machine Shaft → 3300 XL 8 mm Probe → Integrated Proximitor Sensor → Field Wiring → Monitor
instead of: Probe → Extension Cable → Separate Proximitor Sensor → Monitor.
Baker Hughes states that this design eliminates both the extension cable between probe and Proximitor Sensor and the requirement for a separate Proximitor housing.
Measurement Performance
The integrated transducer provides a linear measurement range of: 2 mm (80 mils) from approximately:0.25 to 2.3 mm (10–90 mils) with corresponding output of approximately: -1 to -17 VDC.
The recommended gap is: 1.27 mm (50 mils) and the incremental scale factor is: 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil) ±5%.
The official 1 m system DSL specification is: Less than ±0.025 mm (±1 mil) from 0°C to +45°C under the manufacturer's specified conditions.
200 mm Probe Penetration
The defining mechanical parameter of this configuration is:
Probe Penetration: 200 mm
The metric PROXPAC XL ordering system permits probe penetration from: 25 mm minimum to: 760 mm maximum in: 1 mm increments.
For penetration lengths between 25 and 50 mm, Baker Hughes notes that a machine-case counterbore may be necessary to reduce probe side-view or rear-view effects. This does not apply to the 200 mm configuration because its penetration is well above that range.
