Housing Construction
Probe Configuration
Option 34 specifies a: 3300 XL 8 mm probe with connector protector
with selectable hazardous-area approvals.
The 3300 XL 8 mm proximity system is used for non-contact measurement of static position and dynamic vibration. Baker Hughes identifies its primary uses as vibration and position measurement on fluid-film bearing machinery, together with Keyphasor and speed measurements.
Industrial Applications
The primary role of this housing is external mounting of a proximity probe through a machine case.
For machinery condition monitoring, the 3300 XL 8 mm probe system can support radial shaft vibration measurement, where dynamic changes in shaft-to-probe distance are monitored without physical contact. It can also support shaft position measurement, where static changes in probe-to-target distance are measured.
The housing is particularly useful where the machine geometry requires the specific combination of a 2.0 in standoff and 6.2 in probe penetration. It also provides a practical maintenance arrangement because the probe connection and adjustment area remains externally accessible.
