Product Description
The CE281 piezoelectric accelerometer from Meggitt’s vibro-meter® product line is a vibration sensor designed for machinery monitoring and protection in harsh industrial environments and hazardous areas.The sensor features a centre-mounted symmetrical shear-mode measuring element using polycrystalline material. Integrated electronics provide signal processing directly inside the sensor, eliminating the need for an external signal conditioner or charge amplifier.The built-in electronics also performs charge-to-current conversion, producing a current-modulated output signal suitable for long-distance transmission.

Working Principle
The CE281 piezoelectric accelerometer uses a centre-mounted symmetrical shear-mode measuring element made from polycrystalline material to detect vibration signals. When mechanical vibration acts on the sensing element, the piezoelectric material generates an electrical charge proportional to the applied force. The integrated electronics inside the sensor process this signal and perform charge-to-current conversion, eliminating the need for an external charge amplifier. The converted current-modulated output signal is suitable for long-distance transmission, allowing reliable vibration monitoring over extended cable distances.The integrated electronics provide signal conditioning directly within the sensor, while the low-noise shielded cable and hermetically sealed connection help maintain signal quality in harsh industrial environments. This structure allows the CE281 to provide stable vibration measurement for machinery monitoring applications, including equipment operating in high-temperature or hazardous areas.
