Theory of Operation
This aluminum-bodied housing (21000 series) integrates a 3300 XL 8 mm proximity probe with connector protector and hazardous‑area approvals (option 34). The probe cable is 0.5 m long, and the assembly uses no standoff adapter. The probe penetration depth, set by DDD=056 (5.6 inches), positions the sensing tip well into the machine casing, suitable for thick walls or recessed targets. The fitting configuration (EE=04) provides a single 3/4‑14 NPT plug for sealing the conduit entry, while the mounting thread (FF=02) is a 3/4‑14 NPT directly into the housing body. The 304 stainless steel sleeve guides the probe through the housing, and the dome cover seals the interior. The eddy‑current principle governs the transducer output: the probe coil generates an alternating field; approaching conductive surfaces alter the coil impedance, which the remote Proximitor sensor demodulates into a linear DC voltage proportional to the gap. With the deeper penetration, the system maintains stable vibration and position measurements even in high‑temperature bearing zones, while the aluminum body provides light weight and the CSA‑certified explosion‑proof rating ensures safety in classified areas. The connector protector adds environmental resilience, and the 0.5 m cable length suits local sensor mounting with minimal signal loss.
