It belongs to the 3300 XL 25 mm Proximity Transducer System, an extended-range measurement platform developed for differential expansion monitoring on mid-size and large steam turbine generators.
The complete system provides a 12.7 mm (500 mil) linear range with a nominal scale factor of 0.787 V/mm (20 mV/mil).

Differential Expansion Focus
The 3300 XL 25 mm system is primarily intended for Differential Expansion (DE) measurement on mid-size and large steam turbine generators.
Differential expansion occurs because the turbine rotor and stationary machine casing can expand at different rates.
The system monitors this relative movement using proximity transducers observing a collar or ramp located away from the thrust bearing.
This makes the 25 mm system an important measurement element within steam turbine supervisory instrumentation.
Differential Expansion Measurement Arrangements
Bently Nevada documents several DE measurement arrangements.
Same-Side Collar Measurement
Two transducers can observe the same side of a shaft collar.
When sufficient collar height is available, Bently Nevada identifies this as the preferred arrangement.
The two probes provide redundant measurements.
Complementary Input Measurement
Two transducers can observe opposite sides of a collar.
This arrangement effectively doubles the measurable differential expansion range.
